2. Prepare the Pattern
First, we need to prepare the patterns for three core parts:
- Professional PDF pattern available for purchase on this page.
3. Cutting the Fabric
Step 1: Cutting the Outer Fabric
- Prepare the outer fabric for the cotton jacket.
- Draw the pattern lines onto the fabric according to the template.
- Note: Leave a 1cm seam allowance outside the drawn lines, then cut the fabric accordingly.

Step 2: Cutting the Lining Fabric
- Back lining piece: Width 1cm wider than the outer fabric, same height as the outer fabric.
- Front lining piece: Same width (1cm wider than outer fabric), same height.
- Sleeve lining: Cut according to the pattern.

4. Sewing and Filling with Cotton
Step 1: Initial Sewing
- Sew the front, back, and sleeves of the lining separately to form the inner layer.
- Sew the front, back, and sleeves of the outer fabric separately to form the outer shell.

Step 2: Adding Cotton Filling
- Lay the lining fabric face up flat on the work surface.
- Spread the cotton evenly over the lining fabric.
- Turn the outer fabric upside down and place it over the cotton, so the cotton is enclosed between the lining and outer layers.
- Smooth and fold everything into place neatly.

5. Final Sewing
Step 1: Try-On and Adjustments
Before final stitching, try the jacket on to ensure the fit is correct.

Step 2: Side Seaming
- Sew the lower sleeve and side panels together securely.
- First sew the two outer fabric layers (right sides facing) together with one lining layer.
- Finally, sew the remaining lining layer closed.

6. Details and Buttons
- Button Choice: This project uses Handmade cloth buttons (Chinese knot buttons). If you prefer simplicity, you can use regular plastic buttons instead.
